Hilbert's Thirteenth Problem

You're probably thinking; what is Hilbert's thirteenth problem?

It is one of the problems which Hilbert discussed in his address to the International Congress of Mathematicians in Paris, in 1900. Most of the 23 problems that he discussed were settled, generally in the affirmative, during the 20th century. Indeed, #13 was "settled" in 1957. But a looseness in Hilbert's description of problem opens up several interesting questions...

This part of my site is devoted to explaining and exploring the problem and its "solution" by Russian mathematicians, and all the problems with their solution, and the problems and solutions which have arisen as a result..

What makes for real problems and solutions in mathematics will be discussed later, using all this as evidence. The essence of the problem about the problem is explained here.
